scraps

Well, I finally did it....I dragged out the sewing machine that my Mum passed on to me years ago and finally sat down to figure out how to thread it!! Turns out it was laughably easy and I was happily clicking away in no time so all my worries were for naught. How ironic. It's a sturdy, reliable machine and it works wonderfully, but you can guess by the style of the instructions booklet just how many decades old it may be!

I thought I'd start out again with something easy, using some random scraps, to break in my rusty fingers and to give my perfectionistic tendancies a rest. I remembered the cloth coasters that Brenda and Cheryl's mom made me and I happened across an easy tutorial here last night while surfing my crafty blogs. A fun, quick craft for a sunny Saturday, next some real quilting!

Cass! How Wonderful!
I was wondering how long it would be before you got the bug. The coasters are fantastic. That machine will be better than most of the ones you buy now that are light and flimsy . You will be just fine on it. Suzanne has her Grandmother Morgan's and it doesn't even have reverse. She made the loveliest comforter covers for the beds.
keep going.!

Very cute! My mom made a set of these a few years ago. We love them because they actually soak up the condensation.
