boys have birthdays too

I realize I haven't posted any crafty projects lately ... not that they've been completely avoided but I just haven't felt them worthy of a showcase here where some rather uber-talented blogging friends visit and may see my efforts!
But I did enjoy a bit of time today with the wonderful feel of paper between my fingers ... making my younger brother Eton's 21st birthday card {March 1st, Teddy, have a really great day!} and feeling quite pleased with the end result. Simple but fun. Love the chipboard heart and letter! I really need to get back into scrapbooking like a madwoman soon, especially as we plan to do some serious renovation to our second floor this spring and I'll have to pack up my entire craft room for a few weeks. Oh, the trauma! What a process that's all going to be.

But tonight's a fun night for me ... my yearly dedication to the at-least-4-hour-long Academy Awards. I just hate to miss something that just might happen so I stick it out year after year, patiently waiting for the final Best Picture award and watching every moment in between. The house is clean, Sam's making dinner, and there's Cookies and Cream waiting in the freezer! I'm quite looking forward to it all.

my corner of the world

Here is where I spend 40 hours of my life every week. This corner. Not a cubicle, thank you very much, but truly a corner. And you can just see the very corner of a window on the right so yes, I even have a window office. {Sam is quite jealous of that fact!} My red Starbucks travel mug (Earl Grey every morning...), my cute blue clock, my perfectly nibbed blue pen that I hide away every night, and my photos of my guy and my family -- it's all a person really needs. Plus computer, phone, and scanner, I'm set for the day. Oh, and my ipod ... that's a must for me! An absolute must ...
You might also be blinded by the enormous bouquet of roses taking up a good quarter space of my corner ... yes, I was indeed spoiled for Valentines and very much loved. Thank you, Sam, for that great surprise!
It's a long weekend here right now, Family Day, so I'm quite certain I won't be looking at this corner til Tuesday for sure. How very, utterly, wonderfully nice that is.

he has my heart

... thank you so much for the gorgeous roses you sent to work for me. 10 years of Valentines for us now ... I'll always remember the roses you sent from Thailand when we were so far apart that first year. I'm yours.

fancy and fur trimmed

Here's how I looked today just simply running from Safeway to our car in the parking lot ... it was that cold and windy. Just bitter. But I did look awfully cute in my cozy chocolate brown Gap coat!

the sick doctor

Sam stayed home sick today, a rarity for him. Poor laddie. And I feel so bad as I forgot to put on the heat when I left for work ... so now he's a poor cold sick boy shivering and trying to fall back asleep in the guest room.

Oh dear. What a neglectful wifey I am.
