i called it christmas for mums

This past weekend I had 30 hours. 30 hours of freedom, 30 hours of bliss. 30 hours of what I called Christmas for Mums.

We'd planned it for quite some time, Carol and I, this getaway to Medicine Hat together. And what first began as a desire to go see Eat, Pray, Love turned into plans for an overnighter and a full 30 hours on our own. (No kids!) And though we both have a tendency to be disappointed with our own expectations, in the end we both agreed that it was practically perfect in every way. Lots of shopping, 2 movies at the theatre, dinner at Moxie's, a sleep in, a long relaxing morning at Starbucks, more shopping, and one long uninterrupted conversation with each other the whole time.

You see what I mean about Christmas for Mums? It was so needed.
Carol, you are ridiculously fun to spend 30 hours with ... our next getaway can't come soon enough!

Sounds amazing! I don't get 30 hours in a row right now but I did get 3 hours out tonight plus a girly night to Eat, Pray, Love on Thursday!

I hear the movie is as good as the book. Do you agree???

Chey.

Ah, bliss! Also known as "The Day After Mother's Day"- when moms send their kids to school and enjoy the quiet of a well deserved daycation.

Great to see the pics of your summer vacation. Could you post more to FB? I love seeing others' pictures.

Oh how wonderful! I love having time like that. This summer my sister, best friend and I had GWOF... Girls' Weekend of Fun. We had a sleepover (no children allowed! they had to stay home with dads), fancy fruity drinks, girly gossip mags, cheesecake and we rented Julie & Julia. The next day we slept in, ate scones from the bakery, drank tea and went shopping. Perfection and just what three tired moms needed to get rejuvenated!
