one of those days

Yes, it was one of those days today. One that is just as normal and mundane and usual as the rest ... keeping up with the schedule ... making meals, getting Henry off to school, playing with Walter just one on one. And then he somehow trips ever so randomly in the upstairs hallway and falls right into the metal hinge on the closed hallway closet door. And right there ... the day changes. I hate those moments. When it's too late and you can't take it back. A big deep bleeding gash in the middle of his forehead, Mum home alone, little boy hurt and crying. And yet there's lots to be thankful for ... Sam comes home by taxi a few minutes later and knows we have to take him into the hospital. A friend takes time off his work to go pick Henry up at school and takes him home where his wife, my good friend, and their kids are waiting. 2 stitches are needed but the closure is tight and looks to heal up well. And our little big boy does great even though it's all very traumatic and exhausting and painful and strange.

One of those days. I wondered today just how I can possibly take on another child's pain and worries as even the little, mendable hurts like today are just so hard on the parents. Even these little, mendable hurts can make a Mumma cry.

Poor Walter. And poor Mumma! Dylan split his lip open this summer, and oh my! The blood! It was super stressful but he was very brave... Nevertheless, I'm hoping it never, ever happens again!

Oh Cass. That is so scary. I have been blessed with no stitches (yet) but would be a wreck if it happened. I hate to admit that I am not good when my children are sick or injured! Elsie recently reacted to penicillin and she was covered in horrid hives from head to toe. The doctor said to "Call 911 if it is hard for her to breathe". (Oh so comforting for a
worried sick mumma). It is tough...I hope Walter heals up quickly. I am sure he will. Mumma's sure go through a lot!
Love, Chey.

Poor thing! I just learned this summer that head wounds bleed a LOT. It was scary! It is even harder the younger they are I bet!
