celebrating three

Yesterday was the last of our family's birthdays as Felix turned 3! He's been so patiently and impatiently waiting for his turn but he knew all along that it was after mine and thankfully not long of a wait at that! Birthday morning was all space and robots ... from new jammies to a new rocketship toy plus a little space robot pinball game and a rocking rockets book. I don't think he really caught onto the theme but I sure had fun with it! It was so nice to actually have his birth day on a weekend so we booked his party at the same location as last year, a pre-schooler play place with a great side area for the adults to sit and visit. Nana and Grandad were down from Duncan and my Gramma has just moved to the city so she was able to come. And then as a last minute surprise my little brother (ok, almost 30) and my sister came over from Vancouver, along with the boys' favorite girl cousins Isla and Eden. A really fast ferry turnaround visit but it was so great for the five of them to have a bit more time together. They just love each other so so much. I know I've said that so often on here. Sweet cousin time ... it has always been worth it. Two other little friends along with their Moms, my friends, came as well and we had a good group. Just simple. Kids playing. Adults visiting. Or rather, kids eating ... as soon as they discovered the buffet of nibblies and goodies in the adults corner! Felix absolutely loved that, we were all laughing at him and his constant plates of food. Cupcakes later and that moment when he blows out the candles ... always my favourite. He was so proud, he told me later that he got them all. And so now our baby is 3. Soon to start Preschool in the new year. The most independent of all my boys at this age. Dresses and undresses himself completely ... and woe to you if you dare try to help. A master snuggler with Daddy during his lunch break. A Mumma's boy with lots of kisses and pats and inside jokes and 'I yuv yous'. And a copycat to all his brothers are doing. Felix, you are three now ... I can't wait to see what this next year will hold for you.

Felix - you are growing up far too fast! Looks like you had a wonderful party - thanks Mum. And those cup cakes - a hit - even for Dusty!
