Last weekend we spent the full Saturday up in Duncan with Sam's family, up for some cousin time and for a delicious Easter dinner together. Sam went up early in the morning to meet his Dad, John and Hunter for a round of golf first as they hadn't done that in a very long time! Once the guys got home Nana had set up a chocolate hunt outside for all the kids and just as the rain started they came back in with full buckets to dig in and share their findings. Felix had the wrapper off his huge bunny and had eaten through the ears and head before any of the adults even came into the room, bold little imp! The rain was short-lived and so it was out again for a proper soccer game, all the kids and later Grandad and Uncle Sam too. Later, right after supper finished, the kids all slipped out and started up their own game again while the adults sat and talked and watched now and then, seeing how they were figuring out their little quibbles and injuries on their own. Hunter really stepped up as the oldest cousin, watching over everyone, and I was so impressed to see how much he has matured. We don't get to see these cousins very often (and the other three who weren't able to come) but it was pretty special to see how they came together quickly and honestly really, really enjoyed each other. By the end of the evening when we left to drive home in the dark there were lots of sweet cousin hugs, cousins who all looked pretty cute in their matching pajamas. I foresee lots more backyard soccer matches when we all get together again in the summer!
