For being the shortest month, this has certainly felt like a
v e r y long month and I'm not sorry to say that I'm quite happy it's over! It's been cold, cold, cold, snowy, and quite dreary. And I think I'm suffering from the "middle woes" ... mainly the middle of winter frustrations and the middle of Henry's 3 months of full time wear for his Boots-n-Bar, just simply getting tired of it. Tired of not being able to just pop him in his snowsuit for a carry-about walk in his Baby Bjorn or his sit-up stroller seat. Tired of him not wearing pants ever and so it's a mad dash between house and car all piled up in blankets and all tucked in. Still, I need to remember to be very thankful too. His monkey foot looks perfect and he's such a healthy, happy baby otherwise that I need not have any real complaints. I didn't think he'd be able to get into a Bumbo seat without being able to move his legs more but turns out it's no problem to just pop him in. So we picked up a red one when we were in Saskatoon last week for his midway checkup and he's fully enjoying his "up" time, getting rather tired of just lying about, I think. And besides the Bumbo I usually have him propped up between pillows on our bed, surrounded by toys, while I deal with laundry or whatever. It's a good option for him but I'm eager to have his Boots off in the daytime so he can work on rolling over ... his Cousin Isla is way ahead of him on that one!!
It's been a good month though of getting together with friends: making cards with some of the girls, having friends over for supper, Sam playing cards with the guys, tea and sweets visits, Moms and Tots group on Wednesdays, and a great Valentines banquet that the church put on for our Young Adults group, first time we had Henry hanging out with someone else! Henry's first tooth is just poking through now too but thankfully he actually hasn't been that changed or upset, though the drool factor has certainly increased tenfold. He's still sleeping through the night and yesterday and today have added almost 4 hour long naps to the mix too so I'm thrilled for any bit of reprieve he'll give me. He loves his baths, is starting to notice Sophie more, will sit through all book reading listening intently, has learned to make raspberry noises and is extremely proud of himself, and he likes to check out the daily changes in the beautiful red amaryllis that my Gramma A sent us, that we've been watching since bulbhood.
(Thank you, Gramma!) It's certainly a bit of a quiet, at-home life right now so I'm anxious, oh so anxious, for Spring to arrive ... though I know we have quite a wait yet!

i know...i know! when will winter ever be over?? i am certain that march will bring signs of spring along with her...
henry is so grown up in his bumbo....just sitting around taking it all in! cute!
it is so hard to NOT compare our babies and children's development with another his own age..remember.. what Henry is gaining in other ways because of his boot bar other babies may have to catch up on...when Henry gets his boot bar off for good you will be amazed!
Henry is really a handsome baby. So cute and smiley! Glad to read your update, although I must admit I've forgotten about that little thing called 'winter.' Hard to relate to all the coats and snow gear. I'll try to send some CA sunshine your way :) Take care.
It has been so nice to keep up with what is happening in your world.
Winter does seem like it is dragging a lot this year...hope your spring starts soon enough for you.
