felix ...

  • You are almost 14 months old.
  • 24 lbs, 8 teeth, bright blue eyes, shaggy (getting too long) blond hair, and your Mum's button nose. Perfection.
  • As of last week you are finally, finally, finally holding your own bottle. Stubborn, spoiled, or just lazy?
  • And this week - amazingly - you're showing signs of trying to stand. Again, totally taking your sweet time.
  • You've switched to pretty much only saying Mumma all the same. Thank you very much.
  • When I lay you in your bed you want me to dangle my hair down and tickle your face. Best baby giggles ever.
  • You are really playing with your brothers right now. Not just the baby blob off in the corner by yourself watching all the action. You are the action! Walter yells "Fee-yix, follow me ... catch me, Fee-yix" and just like that you start gallop-crawling after him. That gets Walter laughing and shrieking for sure. Thanks for being such a good sport.
  • One of my favorite things is when Henry calls you "Mr Choc-lo-chum" ... his little nickname for you. From a Berenstain Bears book and the name of a sugary cereal. Soon after reading that Henry called you Choc-lo-chum and it stuck. Cracks.me.up.
  • You love to play peek-a-boo. Henry and Walter never really cared to play but man you love it! Usually it's simply popping in and out behind furniture but lately you slap your chubby hands over your eyes and then throw them up in the air with a laugh. Over and over and over and over ...
  • We think you were really scared of the new house when we arrived. You were definitely sick like the rest of us but your behaviour was something different. You cried alot those first three days and that's so not like you. Thank goodness that's over with. Baby hysterics are no fun for everyone else.
  • You give the best open mouthed kisses.
  • And you sure love to eat! After a delayed start to eating solids and the feeling that we'd never get out of the mush stage you're eating anything and everything now. And lots of it! We have a long time til the diaper stage is over with but I can finally say we're over my other two least favorites: the spitting up and the baby food. T-h-a-n-k-y-o-u.
  • You are our only child to be attached to a blanket. And I kinda love that. You're so cute as you twirl it around your shoulders and over your head in the exact same way every time you go to bed. Who knew you'd get so attached to that little tan and cream blanket that Liz sent from Australia when Henry was a baby? Sometimes you spy it when you're playing in your room so you pull it out and I'll find you having a little snuggle with your face on the floor and the blanket tucked beneath.
  • You're not interested in TV or the Baby Einstein movies. And that's fine by me.
  • You've just learned how to blow in the toy clarinet and make that whistle. So now you crawl around with that dangling in your mouth, giving it all you've got. Noisy and very, very funny.
  • Yep, you are funny and I've been thinking that this is my favorite you so far. You're acting and looking like a little boy more and more every day and your personality is just blazing through. I love to just sit and watch you, not wanting to miss these new, random, comical moments. You're pretty fabulous, Mister. And I just didn't want to forget all these little details.

Glad you're enjoying the moments. Next thing you know, you'll be dropping him off at youth group.

I loved getting to know Mr. Felix a little more in this post... he seems like such a fun, sweet little guy. Seems like it was just yesterday that we were sitting beside each other at MOPS, knowing that he was going to be born the very next day!
