a healthy start

During my travels and shopping excursions the past few days, I've been starting to pick up a few of those potential newborn essentials. Some awfully cute and some just simply necessary. And as ironic as it is - thinking my Mum's "granola" ways were crazy for so many years - I'm turning into a Natural Mama of my own ... with the help of so many new, tried and true, and fantastic product companies out there. Such as Green To Grow which has a whole line of BPA-free baby bottles (check out the 'Learn' catagory of their website to make yourself aware of the dangers and alternatives to plastics). And Seventh Generation which boasts a huge array of eco- and people-friendly products, and probably one of the most well known companies out there in this field. And I can't forget my little organic cotton Bunny from Under The Nile which is a certified 100% organic, genuine Egyptian cotton children's clothing store. Ha, I know my father in law is just cringing right now! Chemical engineer as he is and just as passionate about his own opposite point of view.

Still, I'm enjoying my chance to stock up a bit. Have a few of these things tucked away. So at least I'll have a few Newborn diapers on hand until I get into the cloth diaper routine and later on when we travel as well. And I can start washing my Rubbermaid tubs full of baby clothes now, getting them ready and organized. I love this third trimester stuff ... feeling as though there's an end in sight and a child to bring home. Baby's kicking hard right now, just to say "That's right, Mum!".

Nice assortment! We just bought a huge container of Seventh Gen laundry detergent tonight (I like the eucalyptus and lavendar scent) and when Jason was putting it in the car, it fell out on to the pavement and the top broke off. We didn't lose that much detergent, but let's just say that the Target parking lot smells great now. We also ended up with the BPA free Medela bottles, thanks to a good friend who first clued me in about nasty plastics. (ahem...that friend was YOU!)

You might want to visit my blog again as I updated it with a description of my attempt to paint my toenails. :)
