cupcakes for change

Even though we are Canadians, Sam and I have followed Obama's journey to the White House from the beginning and so we have been looking forward to this day along with so many others. It was exciting to watch the Inauguration just a few hours ago and yesterday as I saw clips of Dr King's "I Have A Dream" speech again and again I couldn't help but feel emotional. So we're celebrating with fancy cupcakes today, watching speeches and ceremonies, and thinking of The Change that is.

Love it! I have been weepy all day about it...I was listening to the radio on my bus this morning and have been watching bits and pieces of the Inauguration since I've been home....
I remember Oprah telling Obama years ago that he should run for president...and here we are.
Something for the US to be so, so proud of.
It is so huge and it deserves a really good cupcake!!!
Chey.

What an amazing inauguration this morning! I watched it live along with students from grades four to ten. We studied segregation in the South via "To Kill a Mockingbird" in grade 10 English, so it was particularly pertinent to that class.

What I really appreciated, aside from the great speech, was the opening and closing prayers. I couldn't help but shout 'AMEN!' from the back of the room.

Yeah, agree to disagree. :-) I understand the historicness (is that a word?) of it, but scary to see a guy with beliefs as he does in charge of the nation! Yet God is in control of it:)

Yes, as an American, I am thrilled to know that a man of color is in the White House.

But - Puh-leeze! The man's policies are SCARY! Why on earth would you like him so much?
