it was the great sprinkle hunt

I realized that all of my cookie supplies were packed away (who knew we'd be here til Christmas when I'd need them again?!) so I bought a few cheap cookie cutters to use in place of all my usuals. Sprinkles were missing too, except for the rainbow coloured birthday ones I always have on hand. So I asked Sam to pick up some red and green sugar sprinkles yesterday, little realizing I'd almost asked the impossible! He and Henry and Walter searched through 5 grocery stores til they found them (at Thrifty's in the end, Joy!) though I daresay the boys got quite a kick out of their efforts in the Great Sprinkle Hunt. And so today we decorated and I rather enjoyed myself ... as I was able to leave the boys to their own creations. Sam helped Walter a little in the beginning but even he did great, carrying on the Chambers Christmas tradition of gingerbread cookies with gusto. Both boys hard at work ... with sprinkle-covered fingers!

I can imagine the frustration at FIVE grocery stores!

I can imagine the fun of sticky fingers, yummy treats, and excitement over creating cool cookies!

I can imagine the clean-up - icing and sprinkles EVERYWHERE!
