While packing up a great deal of our bedrooms today, I came across all of my old glasses - except for my first oval shaped pink pair! - which really reminded me that I need to get them sent off to a charity organization to re-fit and re-use in some way. But, oh dear, who would ever want these?
They're so hideous! Well, except for the last and most recent pair which, actually, my to-be mother in law helped me to pick out at the time. But all the others ... sigh, what a fashion nightmare.
I mean, who would ever willingly and happily sell these to me as flattering to my face, no matter what decade we were in?? The first pair, the huge gold orbs of almost perfect circle-ness, are beyond words.
I put each pair on for Sam to see, in all their glory, and he about fell over in horror. And then promptly insisted that he take mugshots of each of them, for memory's sake. {And his future amusement, I'm sure.} So there you have it, a story of my teenaged years, through the eyes of, well, four eyes. Yes, laugh it up, people, but let's all be thankful that I graduated to contacts and finally had Lasik eye surgery a few years ago ... glasses are only but a dream now.
To be fair, I made Sam put on his own university years Harry Potter glasses so we'd look equally moonfaced. Sophie, through all this, really didn't care and just slept through our walk down memory lane.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...
best
blog
ever!!!!!!!!!
This is the best blog post EVER! My very first pair of glasses were stop-sign shaped. But I didn't save them. What a shame.
Let's promise we'll never let this happen to our own children!
I just realized Angie already said this was the best blog ever and now I look silly for saying the same thing.
I'm a dork!
i can understand all of this...having sported some pretty "nervous" eye wear in my day too....ha! your post cracked me up...i love your lack of expression in each shot! funny
see you tomorrow

Thank goodness for Lasik! I never kept any of my old pairs pf glasses.....horrors, every one!
Thanks for the laugh.
i actually thought the last pair looked the best on you....hee hee!
funny post!
I remember one of those pairs from late night Emmaus days...what a relief for you to have those gone! All in time for baby...so you can now see the clock for the middle of the night feedings!

Hey, good idea for a Blog, I might try it myself...I think I actually have 2 pairs here...finally tossed my big purple ones and the HUGE red ones that I wore at EBC when Gabe broke my contact though:)
Just a reminder from another who has had Lasic...they say at age 40 you will need to wear some reading glasses...:)

Don't be too hard on those specs. They cost me a lot of $$$. And they brought Annie of Green Gables into focus. Hope some less fortunate person in a far away land could and would likely appreciate them. And Sophie is just too cute for Lasik.
Cass, I sure hope you had the big bangs to go with that first pair of glasses! That should be haute couture by now, no?
