my first

So often, this blog is just a way for me to remember ... and for that reason I didn't want to forget all the little details of this first, very special, Mother's Day of mine.
  • My choice for dinner last night, so we ordered in Chinese food ... big yum!
  • Had a long snuggle on the office floor with Henry while Sam uploaded lots of music and we all sang along to every ABBA song we could think of. Forget The Wiggles ... we're going to teach Henry about ABBA instead! (And how can every song be so good?!)
  • Stayed up late with Sam to watch "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button". Our at-home date night.
  • Henry slept through the night, only waking once at 4 am. (It's been a rough month with his continuous wakings and very early risings.) Amazing, wonderful, just what I needed. And just what I wanted.
  • Woke up at 7 am to my husband bringing in my smiley, snuggly boy giving me open-mouthed kisses and two big wrapped presents! Didn't he know that he is my gift today?!
  • I felt very spoiled with my first homemade card from Henry and the Baby and some specially ordered treats: a Bundt Cake pan and an Angel Food Cake pan from Williams Sonoma. I dropped those hints months ago and Sam remembered!
  • Discovered a First Mother's Day hello from my own Mum, emailed from Tel Aviv, Israel. Thinking of her today and my sister Bethany and my mother-in-law Diane!
  • Pictures, church, groceries, and now a lazy day at home. Feeling a little weepy and overwhelmed and thankful and happy to finally be able to celebrate a Mother's Day of my own. Remembering the hurt and the struggles from not too long ago. Henry, I love you, I love you, I love you. And I love being your mother.
